You Can’t Pour from an Empty Cup!

Self-care is not selfish. Quite the contrary! It strengthens and equips you to be more resilient and capable of handling life’s challenges with wisdom and grace. To walk in the roles that God has called you unto in this season, you must first fill your cup. It is a necessary practice, which allows you to continuously care for others well.

Replenishing is vital to your own physical, emotional and spiritual reserves. By daily engaging in the activities that nourish your heart, mind, body and soul you develop a deeper understanding of your own needs and a stronger connection to your own values and purpose. You increase your resilience and build up your ability to walk through stressful situations and rebound setbacks and challenges graciously.

Caring well for you must be intentional.  Planning is key to not only filling your cup, but maintaining a good balance. Having a scheduled, daily routine gives you consistency, which is essential for you to be replenished.  It will also allow you to have boundaries set to prevent burnout and equip you to walk faithfully and serve and care for others from a place of fullness rather than depletion.

Schedule a daily to devoted to pray, praise and bible reading. (heart, mind, soul)

Schedule to participate in a community regularly for fellowship, support, accountability and encouragement from other women of God. (heart, mind, soul)

Schedule to attend/participate events and activities to have new experiences that enhance and inspire growth and camaraderie. (heart, mind, body)

Schedule time (at least 15 min. each day) to be still, reflect and present with the Lord. (heart, mind, body, soul)

Schedule time to stretch (15 minutes) and exercise (30 minutes) daily. (mind, body)

Schedule your bedtime routine which should include putting your phone away for the night, declutter/reset your home, review your daily planner for the next day, long shower/soak in the tub.

Do you currently have a daily routine that helps you sustain a full cup?

  1. Hi Michelle…I’m still writing and creating curriculum for preschool parents. As you know, challenges along the way, but the website should be done soon now. God is sovereign.

So proud of you for all your hard work and accomplishments. I have your site in my Parent’s Resource Library for reference.

    Praise God who strengthens us!
