Keep Hope Alive

Marriage is not always bliss.

The blessings of marriage begins and ends with honoring the marriage covenant with the Lord, daily.   Happiness is a natural result of the husband and wife pursuing and embracing God’s will and his way for their marriage union.  Though this is true, there will be seasons when we become tired, frustrated and even hopeless.  It is in these times that it is most important for us to stand firm on truth and embrace God, ourself and our husband with all our heart.

Remember, Jesus is your first love, your one true love.  A first love means a love that comes before all others: the greatest love.  You and I were created in His image. In His eyes we are of infinite value. He loves us with a deep, abiding, eternal love. You and I are God’s beloved. It is He that we must consider before our own desires, relationships, hopes and dreams.  We must embrace Him and honor him above all else and do all for his sake and unto his glory.

My husband is a gift to me from God. To respect him is walk in submission to the Lord. Though he is not my first love. He is in fact a gift from my first love that I can reflect the love God has for me in and through this union…wow! Again, marriage is a beautiful, complex thing! It is to reflect God’s work of redemption and reconciliation through the gospel and advance His kingdom. To keep hope alive I must be intentional about our marriage covenant and about embracing God, myself as He sees me and my husband, a fresh and anew daily. When I don’t, it is unto God I will humble myself first and then to my husband and continue on in His strength and his love.

This was the message the Lord gave me for our gathering last week and oh my goodness, it was a fresh word from the Lord unto my own heart. It was also a blessing to those who were able to attend our virtual meeting. I can’t say enough about how the wives who have joined me this year along the journey of 365 Days of Prayer, Affection and Affirmation have blessed me. The beautiful fellowship we have had each month has been priceless to me.

Join us for our next 365 Live, a monthly gathering to be encouraged and inspired to love your husband well. October 3rd, 7:00 p.m. EST for “Without a Word”  Registration is required.
