The Power of a Praying Wife

A praying wife is powerful! Her prayers are sustaining. They offer peace, strength, perseverance, humility and joy to the marriage. I have been using this book to prompt daily prayers for our marriage for many years and it has blessed my husband, it has blessed us…it has blessed me.

Rising early to pray specifically for my husband gives me peace in my heart. No matter the situation when I open this book I am given a choice to humble myself and think of my husband, to bring him to the Lord for His consideration.

Prayer is an act of faith. It is also an act of love and service unto others. When I pause and pray for Walter, it is one of the most considerate things I can do for him. My prayers place him and that which concerns him right before God, his Father who created him and loves him more than I. The one who can minister to him and move him, the one who can give him strength to carry on. Prayer has allowed him to persevere through trials and seasons of change.

My prayers for my husband not only bless him, they bless me. Just the mere act of going to the Lord on his behalf is humbling. It causes me to think about my own heart, my motives, my frailties…my sin. Sincere prayer for him oftentimes is sincere prayer for me. It gives me a fresh perspective and hope for Walter and for myself.

Prayer is the foundation of our joy. Joy is a necessity in marriage because together you are bound to face some storms. We have had a few devastating storms along our journey and still we stand. I believe it is because of God’s grace and mercy and the power of prayer. How has prayer affected your marriage, your husband and or you?

    1. Yes, it is! I use it as a daily reference to write in my prayer journal for my husband. I’m teaching others how to do the same on May 24th. It’s an online group teaching.
