I Remember

When our first generation (of 3), which included four of our ten children, were young there were days when all I wanted to do was get out and get some fresh air with my mom friends and our children for a carefree morning or afternoon. Well, today our daughter who is of that first generation of our children, called me to make sure it was okay for her and a mom friend to drop by and hangout with their kids in our backyard. She thought it would be comfortable for them and the children. Of course, I didn’t mind!

In preparation for their arrival, I grabbed a box of graham crackers for a snack, some cups and a pitcher of water for the children and put the umbrellas up around the yard for shade. Shortly there after, they arrived. Joyfully, through the gate came our daughter, her mom friend and one of our daughters in-law, each with their children.

It was a blessing to my heart to hear the women talk and laugh as the children played. As it got closer to lunch time, I offered to prepare a meal so they wouldn’t have to worry about feeding the children when they got home. Gratefully, they accepted my offer.

While they continued to enjoy one another, I ran out to the store to grab a few additional items for lunch. As I shopped for the food I needed, I began to think back to when I was in the season of life they are currently in and my heart was glad. I am so thankful to God that these ladies have one another. It’s so beautiful to watch them blossom into beautiful women who not only have fun together, but they also pray for one another and help each other as the need arises.

Thanking God as I ran out to the store.

When I returned, it was my pleasure to prepare their meal for them. They were so grateful. All they had to do was make their plates and eat. After lunch, they packed up their children and headed home for a time of rest for them and nap time for the kids.

Thank you, Lord for allowing me to give our daughters and their friend what I once longed for, not only the time with friends, but a mother to display love and support just because.
