In this season of my womanhood journey, we only have one of our ten children left to homeschool daily. As opposed to leaving our teenage son at home, when I go to work at the gift shop, I take him along with me and we work alongside one another. The time he has left at home with us is very important to me, so I choose to use the adaptable nature of homeschooling to balance my role as an entrepreneur with my role as a homeschool mama.

It has been a positive experience for us both that complements our lifestyle as it prepares him for adulthood. It has enhanced our communication and creates unique opportunities for discussions about real-life situations and circumstances. He gets to see firsthand what I do as an entrepreneur as I assist customers and create, embellish, and tag merchandise to stock on my shelves. It gives him independence, responsibility, and experience to manage his time, handle tasks, and follow instructions in the midst of interruptions and distractions.
Throughout the day, as he interacts with my coworkers and our customers, he is growing in his communication skills as well as his confidence. I am grateful for this opportunity to mentor and work alongside our son. It has strengthened and blessed our relationship, tremendously.
