Forgiveness is the conscious decision to release resentment or desire for vengeance against someone who has wronged you. While it is important to forgive others, it is also important for one to forgive themself.
Self-forgiveness is the process of acknowledging and accepting responsibility for thoughts and actions honestly, without judgement, then choosing to release the negative feelings that can bind us like anger, guilt, shame etc. This is not about forgiving ourself and forgetting, instead it’s about being honest with you about you, having self compassion and learning from your choices.

Okay, let me just say, self forgiveness is not always easy, but it is necessary for me. We must be kind and understanding to ourself in the same way we would be to a friend. Not only should we be intentional about identifying what we can learn from our experience, we must also seek ways to avoid making the same choice again.
Over time, self-forgiveness has become part of my lifestyle; it’s self care. I have come to realize I must pause often to reflect and renew my heart and mind that I will not bear the consequences of embracing my offenses.
Pray
Acknowledge my experience.
Unleash, uninhibitedly my feelings to God.
Submit my heart and mind to the Lord.
Embrace God (His Word, His will).
This has been so helpful to me. Giving myself permission to feel in the presence of the Lord gives me comfort and confidence. I feel seen and heard which allows me to embrace Him, his will and his way with peace and joy. Self forgiveness helps me manage stress and anxiety and empowers me to move forward with hope and peace.

Is self forgiveness something you are intentional about?
